We’re celebrating a truly exceptional result at our Kidderminster Training Centre this week—well done to Andrew, who passed his Category CE 3b test with zero driving faults! A clean sheet is a rare and impressive achievement, and we couldn’t be more pleased with his performance.
Andrew’s success is not just a personal milestone—it’s a reflection of the standard of HGV driver training delivered at our Kidderminster site. His calm, professional approach during the on-road test impressed the examiner and demonstrated his readiness to operate articulated vehicles safely and confidently in any setting.
What Is the CE 3b Test?
The Category CE 3b test is the final on-road assessment for drivers upgrading from Category C to CE—also known as the Class 1 HGV licence. It evaluates how well a driver handles an articulated lorry in real traffic conditions, focusing on:
🚛 Use of mirrors, observation, and safe signalling
🚛 Manoeuvring through junctions, roundabouts, and built-up areas
🚛 Speed control and hazard response
🚛 Safe, smooth progress in varied traffic conditions
🚛 10 minutes of independent driving to assess decision-making
To pass, a candidate must have no serious or dangerous faults, and no more than 12 minor faults. Andrew passed with zero faults—a testament to his concentration, control, and preparation.

By test day, he was fully prepared—driving with precision, discipline, and awareness. The result? Zero driving faults. That’s not just passing—that’s excelling.
